Second chapter of Amanchu! released!

We're using our own scans starting this chapter as Asakura is back on scanning. That means we'll have the raws every months around 2 days after the magazine's on shops, but that doesn't mean instant release because I'm still not doing speed scanlating, and I'll work at my pace, without rushing the release.

About the chapter, nothing new on the story, just one new character, and still beautiful art  Wink

Maybe you'll notice that I've edited a few sfx, I thought it was a good thing to have the meaning for those, but to tell the truth I'd like our readers' advice on this:
  • Should I randomly edit important sfxs like I did on that chapter?
  • Should I leave the japanese ones, and put tl on the side?
  • Should I put sfx tl on the sides on a regular basis for all sfxs?
  • Or should I not care about sfx at all, it's really useless!

do tl notes on the side, but only for really important ones, the rest usually have pretty obvious meanings.

I feel like some of the translations in this chapter (specifically when Hikari is racing w/Kotori-sensei and when she is talking about diving) were done oddly (felt like the words were less like diving jargon than in the other translations, such as "step-in method" and "surface conditions" instead of "giant stride" and "water surface").  This is probably just personal preference, though.

also, on page 17, the other translation group, it says : "This is... a steep incline!" and on the next page "When facing such a hurdle..."

then Hikari says "Go, the power of youth!"

This seems to flow better than what Ossu has, so I'm wondering if the transations are from different languages or what (this other group translated from chinese, but it gives a more amano kozue/aria type feeling)

anyways, great job on a HQ scanlation!

First, I'm the literal kind of translator, I want things to be the closer possible to the original text in japanese.

giant stride was written giant stride using katakana in japanese all I did was convert it and what I tled water's surface was "suimen" with kanji "sui" meaning water and "men": mask, face, surface.

on p17, the japanese is "joukyuusha point souguu!?" to make the explanation short "joukyou" is advanced level, high grade, sha written with the kanji "mono" meaning person (not the "mono" for thing) point well it's point written in katakana and "souguu" means encounter

on p18, the japanese for the first sentence is "kono you na nansho wa..." "kono you na" means "at that matter of state" and nansho "rough spot"/"difficult position"
and it goes with the bubble behind "wakasa de shoubu" "shoubu" means game/battle and "wakasa" indeed means youth... wakasa de shoubu litteraly means "a battle with youth" I interpreted it a battle that just begins (japanese ofen has stuff you have to interpret...) I'll ask some other people to confirm that one.

Here are all the explications you asked I think, if there's something still bugging you, go on, I'll try to answer as best as possible.

Anyway, I know they're working from chinese from what I've been told, I don't understand a word of chinese (excepting nihao and wo ai ni maybe) and actually I don't even want to know what was the translation they used. It would be kind of cheaty to just go and look what the other group has done, just note that even when I was working on Mx0 at the end when a lot of people began to release there stuff I didn't look at their translations either.

The only thing I can add is that I'm not perfect, I can do mistakes too.

EDIT: ok, so for p18, I'll put a corrected page on c3, it seems my tl it was a bit off >.>
