Which plate would YOU have?  A MO plate for the best defence butbe unable to cast normal magic? A Gold plate to use great offencive magic but be constantly relied on or attacked by everyone? Or a different plate to fit amongst the crowd?

¬¬ well it's kinda hard deciding between, no magic usage "M0" or almost unlimited magic spells capacity "Gold". I would go for gold but I would disguise it as a Silver to avoid unwanted attention

To be honest I wonder what are the plates beyond gold. For one, the headmaster plate may be a gold plate with a different insignia or something beyond it. A gold plate is teacher class but daddy Hiragi did mention that a plate "beyond" gold would be needed for Aika's wish.

Well for the question itself, I doubt this is a good topic discussion as there is not enough knowledge to base a true comparison on and M0 in itself is just personalized magic removal and any other plate is personalized magic that has been created before hand. Another plot element is a thought of rather than reciting and having the plate memorize an ancient magic, can you end up creating your own when you get to a certain level?

Magic used on the plate is personalized choices picked by students and with a gold you assume true understanding of your power, etc. This is just a bad point to compare. In truth the M0 plate is the most dangerous of all plates as it can technically cancel out everyone else when you have the understanding to use it.

Ruthenium is undoubtly more powerful than silver considering a third year from the magic executive committee uses it.

To be honest, according to common sense and nature (rarity) platinum is rarer and more maleable, usefull and such than gold. Palladium > platinum.

Heck, there are probably plates that work off all the rare transition metals. With platinum, gold, silver, you should find others used as plates as such of the other platinum group metals: ruthenium, rhodium, palladium, osmium, and iridium.

According to wikipedia, Platinum is better then gold.
Platinum is rarer and more expensive than gold so we can say it's better, but for Mx0's plates, even though it would be obvious that the principal has at least as much power than the teachers, it has never been said than 1. that P stand for Platinum, 2. that her plate is more powerful than Gold Plates.

Everything so far are just guesses.

What kind of dupes the straight level theory of plate aquisition is shown on the plate level up system itself. There seems to be a multi-lvl system of plates where there are different rows of plates. (look at ch.11 pg 3)

In short a person may entirely skip entire sets to get a plate that is even higher. Untill the author himself shows us how the set-up is, most of the knowledge we know of plate strength is just from seeing other students and rarity of plates that we can guess by real life rarity and worth (which for very rare or less known metals the author may confuse relative worth and just make them lower).

for one to decide which plate to choose,
we would have to see ALL the spells that are available for install into the plates...

who would want to have a gold plate... and the strongest spell would be a VOICE WARP (aika) or some thing like that.... if those were the kinds of UBER spells that could be installed, i'd rather take MO over GOLD anyday...

so yeah... we have to see the entire spell range.... to judge accordingly
