Im a lazy writer so some of this might not make sense so just ask away, no dumb questions though like "where can I find the brush?" because that drives me crazy and I will destroy you.

As you can see there is a 12 hour difference on this drawings I started to make one facing forward but ended up looking like ET so I redid it in the morning. It looks better now I think.

LESSON 1: SKETCH
Although I dont think its necessary

Ok lets start with the sketch, I always start with the head.
Then the body, Originally I wanted her hand to rest in front of her thighs but it doest seem to fit so I changed it again.
hands added
I lowered the shoulder on this part since the collar bone seems a bit too high also extended the legs in order to see the head band, I might extend this more during the coloring process to include feet.
As you can see the line art is rather messy and rough since I always end up painting on top of my line art its been a habit of mine to keep it lose, its less time consuming and I like using the big fat brushes on Photoshop. Its done now we move to coloring.

LESSON 2: COLORING
Before you start I will assume that you at least know the basic of Photoshop. If you do then lets continue.

First thing we do is add a new layer (I normally work on 1 layer only but this method is easier to do some coloring) and set it to overlay and start slapping on some high saturated colors I like red since most of our skin is composed of that color.

Next add another layer and set it to multiply and fill it with any dark color. You may just keep the inside the line art but that will take more time still need to keep it loose and I dont like painting on the white canvas it makes my eyes bleed, so generously spread it round.

Still on the same layer (multiply) start applying some skin tones and since this is on the multiply layer the shading that was done on the line art will be taken care of so there is no need to put in a lot of detail on this just keep it loose still and big brush. - see if the line art was kept clean this would not have been possible.

Still some more on the tutorial.... were not done yet.

and before anybody say it I know it doesn't look like Hinata at all, I tried really hard to make it look like her but I failed to do so.

A full coloring tutorial will follow.

you hold a too realitic style in both "lineart" & "Greyscale colour"
for hairs and body and head.W.(due to your basic porportion)the second image

might be an idea to find a image of hinata? fronts face "so you don't have to making up proportion line"

XD...call it """how to draw humun art in manga style""" ,might have been more suitable

.w.looks forward to see some more Mx0 .W.

hahha, ChiSon - well its not quite realistic as I exaggerated some of her appendages, the eyes are bigger that I would normally do it as well.

*psst.... and heres a little secret I cant draw manga style characters, it seems so impossible for me. It goes against every fiber of what I learned so I just cant seem to do it.

once you know how to draw real body, it's hard to "lower" your art style to something looking like manga (some manga does have realistic art though)

xd...it take me year to get a bit if the idea of how to draw realitic...XD...
ps: if eats know yourself don't draw manga style, why are you picking up hirata?.w.xd

once you know how to draw real body, it's hard to "lower" your art style to something
ps:is a facts that sometime the more simple the harder it gets...
anyway...

i think whenever of how you starting draw the eye(big or small),it do set your style of bodys......most western artist do love starting realitic
as the uk/us magazine of coverarts are more or less all realitic...

You're saying manga is a lower form of art compared to something realistic? Mistakes on proportions are much more obvious when its in manga style. Getting it right is not that easy if you're not used to drawing people and lack the basic knowledge of human anatomy. Dammit now I sound like my art lecturer.

So eats, have a portfolio site somewhere? I'd love to see your other works. =D

@strike you know it ^_^

@ChiSon - I drew hinata because I promised to someone at mangahelpers that I would color one but, I could not get a good page with her on it so I drew a fan art which did not turn out soo good but hot.

@Lutherniel - manga style is not a lower form art you see the quotes ("") that was used. its just on an anatomical point of view yeah its lower per say but never artistically lower, hell I like the style I wish I lived in Japan and studied art there. And as for portfolio all my work are copyrighted by different companies that send their ideas on a piece of paper to me. I rarely work on a project for my self and since work is good to me right now I have no need for an online portfolio so no website for me I'm not in a need to showcase my work since I'm in a position where I have no need to advertise my work, work comes to me. Until that self sustaining system burns out I dont see the use to advertise my work. Plus I dont want to get my self in trouble with all the NDA forms that I signed. I probably wont update it anyways.

oow, your job sounds so comfortable... once I'm done with my title in computer engineering I'm gonna have to figure out a way to get a good job, either as a teacher in a school(not fond of little children, but I can take it) or see if I manage to design some awesome A.I. or OS to have the rest of my life handed on a platter

yep, programmer, right now I'm doing my damn homework that requires the creation of a program that creates recipes from a megastore that's divided in various sections, and I must be able to retrieve all the information about a vendor's sales and point out a buyers total sale... it's a very messy and annoying program, and to make it worst I have to fight with the "Date" class that comes with java, a thing I've never seen how it works before.

PS: this tutorial gets bigger and bigger everyday I watch it
