I have computer problems when recording with Verbatim DVD+R media on my Matshita DVD-RAM UJ-850S laptop recorder, it starts and then it stops not even going after 1% and returns one of the following errors:

"error no additional sense information" or "failed to write sectors 1504 to ****" anyway it started doing that only with Verbatim 16x, after it succesfully recorded 24 out of a 25 DVD cake and now I'm stuck with 21 more virgin DVDs... any idea of what the hell is wrong with this thing?

PS: I tried looking around for an updated firmware of the damn recorder but there's none around

You can try this: http://www.bha.co.jp/en/download/utilities/dvdram.html#
But there is a good chance that it is the same driver that you already have.

yeah, I had already tried that one, but it says that I don't have the required recorder, so it's either a badly made updater or my recorder is a fake piece of crap, doubtful since it came with a sony Vaio

i am not good at PChardware and software ,but
are you using "Nero" to write CD?
A.aviod japanese/chinese word include in the name?
B.aviod long file name
C.update the newest version of your DVD writing software?
D.surfing the web of user with silimar problem(there is alway someone before you.w.)
E.sme DVD writing software and test writing t see what problem you got...

1. for own compilations I use Nero, latest version
2. for images(ISO) I either use nero, alcohol or IMGburn
3. I always check the naming of the files
4. already checked the web for same problem, their solution is ¬¬ update firmware
5. error only occurs with Verbatim... *sigh* T_T

PS:i don't mean search the offical web...i meant those user forum(user are the one holds the true...)

any chances that your DVD-writer are OLD at the times that they were doing some anti-verbatim events ?
if you writer your disc in "all file" do you think it will work???(all in one system?)

mmh... it might be reaching its time, it has already recorder over 200 DVDs, but what's weird is that only complains with verbatim 16x... it must be the firmware... I also tried the memorex 16x a while back and it also refused, but what is weird is that it successfully recorded 24 of the same kind before.... *goes to check the already recorded verbatim dvds*
.................................

damn recorder, it had successfully  recorded 24 verbatim and now is refusing to read them... something happened to the recorder, it must be something physical to be screwing me this way *sigh*

I must be cursed or something... just a few minutes ago my computer froze and I was forced to reset using the power button and when it returned back to windows I opened utorrent as always, did its routine check on the files when it's wrongly closed and then I opened lolifox... and now ALL and I mean ALL my 500+ Bookmarks are gone, all the bookmarks I've collected over the 10 years I had internet are gone, I'm really pissed right now so I'm gonna see if they are at least hidden somewhere in the lolifox folder.

[edit] because I had once installed firefox I was able to retrieve 3/4 of all of my bookmarks, thanks anyway for anyone that was tried to figure it out

for those curious on how to do it, win XP only
Startup>run>"%APPDATA%\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles">bookmarkbackups and just import the newest file

yeah, I know the feeling, sometimes your computer just decides to betray you and erase everything you haven't backed up

fixed my verbatim error(at least the reading part) and all I needed to do was go to a megastore, buy a DVD cleaning disc with 6 brushes and run it on my computer and 4 minutes later voila!!! I hope it continues reading and recording
