for those of you who are into the Manga & Anime Air Gear.
a group of otaku have come together to try and make AT (Air-Trek) a reality.
yes they want to make a real working pair of AT's!! minus the whole riding up walls thing.. we all know that goes against physics.. well with the technology we have at the moment.

i just thought some of you might find this interesting

i'm don't like noisy moto-gear ,
the smaller the gear ,the noiser and powerload the gear needs to handle.

XD.anyway, goodluck to them,i don't think their can do trick .XD

ive been on this page before. these guys just took a toy electric remote control motorbike and fitted a nike shoe over it lol. i dont think anyone can wear it and actually move around in it.

i hope these guys are successful; maybe they could influence actual engineers to create the real thing.

this only works in anime with the pressure sensitivity, but for the 3d world it would require a neural interface to work properly, especially when you are falling on your back from big heights.

i understand that it's not possible for most of the things that happen in the manga/anime to be done in real life. like making fire with the AT or skating vertically up a tall building, that just goes beyond physics & science.
i'm just saying it would be cool to have a pair of ATs that actually work properly, and it's possible to make a pair you can move around in with the technology we have.
Though engineers would never make something so pointless just to appeal to otaku, not unless a massive sum of money & profit were involved =_=
Could you imagine if all engineers were otaku?? God we'd probably have gigantic Gundams walking around or battle space crafts lol.

gundams? Mospeadas would be better than simple gundams, Gundams would be more for military use, mospeadas or veritech for common folk =P

actually if air trecks were made available it would hit big in the united states because it would kill skateboards/rollerblade. but the downside is the killer price tag, it will burn a hole through your pocket.

and i agree, the first country which makes gundams will literally be the strongest country in the world. most likely China, Russia, and Korea are the most probable. China hit a satelite with a missile!
-------

But i already thought of a wheel design, it uses magnets instead of engines.

I know you guys said that the engines cant be put inside the wheel, but what about magnets?

click here for rough plans of the wheel

I got this idea when i was thinking how the maglev train can hit record speeds, the down side is that it will take long to accelerate. The magnets will be powered by how fast you are going so dont expect a sudden kick. Firs a person needs to skate like a normal person would. After he/she picks up some speed, the batteries will start to work more noticeable (the batteries get stronger and stronger as you speed up because of a mini generator).

Once you reach a high speed you wont even need to skate anymore, just keep your balance. If you dont know how the maglev train works you should wiki it.

And i know this is a shallow device but its more realistic than an engine, will also be probably worth ALOT more.  Cheesy

note: that picture was made in less than 20 mins in paint and i didnt put too much detail in. I only bothered designing the wheel.

(i put this in mangaupdates but noone had posted since august 16....)

magnet = iron
iron aren't a stronge metal~

example??? the new japanese???train magnet system?
question:[to make to real thing~ do you guy spents a lot of cash~]

acctually that wheel design wouldn't work. the magnet idea only works to make things move on a friction free environment, like magnetic field over magnaetic field with air in between, and it wouldn't work since there would be ground friction stopping it therefore it would only work in the air. Besides if you wanted for that thing to work on ground you would have to start em up on the air and wait for them to reach enough speed to counteract the friction of the ground and your weight once they hit the ground.

I do have an Idea on how to make it work, but there's still the need of a small and powerful engine for it.

who exactly are you?? lol mister college graduate/scientist???  not sure if you're just talking jibberish, i'm still in high school, year 10.. i dropped science =_= so i'm not even sure if people my age would know about all this..

LOL yehhh  CHINA!!! but most likely the Japanese will come up with the technology first, they might sell it to countries like china, korea, russia while gaining allies aswell. OKAY NO MORE WAR TALKY!!

your AT idea was pretty impressive BUT! no one is gonna take you seriously if you use paint!! lol at least photoshop or do some actual design plan (blueprints), scan them and post em. you sound serious, if your still young why don't you take some courses in design, engineering, etc.?? you could 1 day make AT reality after you've got your degree and all. but if ur one of those old otaku then idunno... lol i'm just speaking my mind =]

In a way you could say I'm talking gibberish, but the thing is that I for some weird reason I just know how physics work. and I'm a computer & informatics engineer student (22 years old) so I'm kinda used to this kinda problems with friction, movement, magnets, force, work... and a lot of physics talk. Let's just put it simple, My brain is wired for physics

I'm actually in a pretty similar situation to Lord_Mew (computer science and engineer student). From what I've learned in physics, he's completely right. The system won't work unless you can achieve very high speeds or frictionless environment. If there was a way around this, normal cars would use this technology for basically no-fuel travel on highways. Also, a train/car is much more aerodynamic than a person, which cuts down on air friction by alot.
